High Tea at the Whitney

The personalized menu. Surprise birthday dessert.
As usual, one of the ways I celebrated my birthday this year was with high tea. However to give it different twist, I chose to try out a new place, the Whitney. This restaurant is housed in a Victorian style mansion located in downtown Detroit and I must say the Victorian decor really set the tone for high tea. Not to mention the fact that most of the women in attendance were sporting fascinators or hats along with sundresses. The elegant and vintage ambiance along with the scrumptious food and excellent customer service made for a great birthday celebration.

In order to celebrate my birthday in style, I wore a summery white sundress and paired it with neutral accessories. Every year for my birthday I like to purchase a new sundress as a treat to myself and as a nod to my love of fashion. This year I decided to go with a midi length puff sleeve sundress that can easily be dressed or down and paired with a wide array of colors and prints given its solid white color. I chose to keep the accessories low key, yet statement making, with the beige fascinator and beige jewelry, along with the clear espadrille wedges. I usually don’t wear wedges this high, however these are quite comfortable.
The overall ambiance of the tea at the Whitney accompanied by the simplicity and stylishness of the sundress made for a great birthday experience. In addition to birthdays, tea can be great celebration for any occasion, as a couple of the other guests were there celebrating a retirement. Great food, a warm and inviting atmosphere, a great tea date (my mom), and a cute ensemble all made for an unforgettable tea experience.
Enjoying my mimosa that was served upon arrival.
