What to Wear to a Virtual Spring Graduation Ceremony

It’s graduation season and given the pandemic, many schools are having virtual graduation ceremonies. I was scheduled to participate in my doctoral graduation ceremony earlier this month but it was changed to a virtual format that will occur in June. While participating in the ceremony via a tablet screen won’t be the same as actually being there and walking across the stage and being hooded while my family and friends cheer me on, I still plan on dressing the part. Dressing up for the ceremony will help to set the tone of importance for this pivotal event in my life. This outfit is also a good choice for those whose ceremonies are occurring in person, as this is something I also would have worn had my ceremony been in person.
The dress is comfortable, stretchy, and doesn’t require ironing and therefore won’t show wrinkles from hours of sitting during the ceremony. I love a good wash and wear dress and like to wear these for work and when traveling on business trips as they don’t wrinkle up from being folded in a suitcase. The side zippers serve as a nice accent and accentuate the waist of the dress, making it figure flattering for a variety of body types. The flats are comfortable and can be dressed up or down. Getting them on and off is made easy with the zippers on the backs of both shoes. I match them up with silver earrings and a silver bracelet to bring out the silver zippers in the dress.
How are you celebrating the grads in your life?
